![]() ![]() Lee took great pleasure and enjoyment in spending time with his sons and was very proud of their many accomplishments. He met Lydia at Red River College and they were married July 1981. Lee had many fond memories from his childhood. In July 2008, Lee retired from the College after 38 years as Lead Instructor in the Instrumentation Engineering program. It was a notable accomplishment to be nominated, selected and approved for this honour and he received the award at the 2000 ISA Honors and Awards Banquet in New Orleans. ![]() Eckman Education Award in recognition for his 30 years of continuous service in teaching instrumentation at Red River College and inspiring and mentoring students for the betterment of the instrumentation field. In May 2000, for his outstanding contribution toward education and training in science, engineering and technology of instrumentation, Lee was selected by the Instrumentation Society of America, to receive the Donald P. Lee also coordinated the electrical licence for the instrumentation trade in Manitoba as chairman of the Safety Legislation Sub-Committee. He joined the Instrumentation Society of America in 1971 and was a charter member of the Winnipeg Chapter Section. He taught an array of subjects at the College such as industrial hydraulics, fluid power, programmable logic controllers, fluid mechanics, final control elements, process devices and practices and process measurements. After a short stint at TransCanada Piplines, he returned to Red River College in 1970 as Instructor in the Instrumentation Engineering program and dedicated his career to teaching students in the field of instrumentation. After graduating from high school, Lee went on to the Manitoba Institute of Technology (now Red River College) and obtained a Diploma in Instrumentation in 1969. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Lydia his sons Paul (fiancée Melissa Pope), and Ryan his sister Karen (Harald) Thimm of Calgary his niece Laura (Jason) Sullivan of Calgary and his brother-in-law, Ed Konik. Lee was born Maand was the eldest son of Alice and Allan Shirtliffe. ![]() SHIRTLIFFE It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lee on Thursday, at the Grace Hospital. ![]()
